It beats my mind sometimes when people act as though they just landed on the planet earth!
Come on why did my friends ever have to ask me where Ghana was located on the world map?
why didn't they refer to me as a Ghanaian instead of saying that African (in between am proudly African but come on i have a country .....)
why did i ever try to explain to them that Angola was just one of the African countries and not the capital of Africa?why did they ever have to look at me with some kind of pity anytime Africa was mentioned?
why couldn't i just pass by and not cause a stare cos i looked different from them?
Why do i seem to know all about them and they nothing about me?
Why did i ever smile on the first day the Prof started the History of the slave trade?
Why did they ever ask me if Ghanaians speak Portuguese when i could barely speak anything in that language and was yet to learn it ?
Why did that lady on the bus have to scream just because i said i couldn't understand her language ?damn i never said i was deaf!
why did they have to think there is a common african dialect and we all spoke and understood it?
Why do you wish i was there watching TV with you when you heard that African word ..so i could translate it for you?helloooooooooo i speak twi,ewe and not Africana
why did they have to call me and say they saw my country on TV just because there was a documentory on Kenya ,Zambia,Liberia.etc.....I said I am fron Ghana ...helloooooooo
Africans wear Jeans ,we live in houses, we have streets (although the aint the best),we watch TV,we have radios ,we access the internet(Infact for this very reason i am blogging )lol,we have a president (google to find out),we have a beautiful culture ......
Africa goes beyond poverty ,we go beyond wars and tears and hunger .........
we sing !we dance !we laugh !we tell stories !we`re beautiful people with loving hearts......
AFRICA IS A CONTINENT AND NOT A COUNTRY !Pelo Amor de Deus!

ReplyDeleteI appreciate your deep thinking and analysis of events in your life. But the truth is that, we cannot blame them. Its our own doing as Africans. Its about time for us the black nations to realise that this life is a competitive one and they (whites) will do everything to ensure that they out compete us. Africa and its people need to sit up, for we have being sleeping for too long.
ReplyDeleteHmmm Kwaku i get ya ......but i can blame them for their own ignorance ...we aint got nothing to do with that ..for not being competitive enough yep we aint got the means to we still a developing country ....we still fighting and someday maybe you and i can make the difference ......but this is IGNORANCE!
